Currington: New Music Coming!

It’s been about ten months since Billy Currington released his latest album “We Are Tonight.”  But Billy told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that he’s almost done with the next one!  “We started about two months ago, we’re about 8 songs in right now, and we’ll probably do one more session of 2 or 3 more songs, and we’ll be done and turn it in.”

Tell me about the direction of the new album: It’s kind of like what you heard in Hey Girl and We Are Tonight.  Everything is going so modern with the music now, you hear a lot of beats in the music now.  I love all that, I love music evolving, so we’re rocking it out, and slowin’ it down.

Anything we wouldn’t expect from you?  There’s a song called “Jones’n.”  That may be pretty unique, a little different.  We’ll see.  It’s still comin’ together now.

Do you have anything you’ve written? Yes, we recorded one yesterday.  It was the first time we recorded one I wrote in a while.  We’ve been touring so much, I just put writing on the back burner, and the other day it just felt right.  We just started spittin’ out chords and a chorus, and before you knew it, we had a pretty good song, so we laid it down yesterday.

When will we hear some new music from you? I think the next single for sure will be off the new album.  So the album will be out in February if the song comes out in September.  You know how slow my songs go!
