Miranda Lambert’s 3-Home Life
A couple months ago, Miranda Lambert and husband Blake Shelton bought a home in Nashville. Of course they also have a home in Oklahoma, and Blake rents a place in LA when he’s doing The Voice. That makes them a 3-home couple. Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton spoke with Miranda about that new lifestyle:
So are you a Nashvillian now? “Partly. I’m partly a Nashvillian. We live in Oklahoma mainly. But we’re here a lot. So we figured we needed a place. We were leasing a condo for a couple years, but now bought a house. I’ve been here a lot more than I have in the past. So it’s good to have a home place.
So you have 3 homes, has it become a lot? It’s a phase in our life. The west coast thing definitely is. We’re just getting used to it. Blake’s out there more than me. But he got a cute cozy little house that I love. It has a garden, so he’s definitely trying to coax me out there more.
That’s different from the other place he had in LA, isn’t it? We had this big, crazy, creepy mansion. I told him, ‘This is creeping me out.’ There’s probably still steak knives around because I walked around with them all the time. I’m like, ‘Someone’s gonna jump out of a corner, oh my gosh!’ I was freaked out. It shows you don’t need that big of a house. We didn’t use any of them. You need a bedroom, kitchen, and a living room.
That house did have a great pool and a great view: “It DID have a great view, that’s kind of what sold it. He got it sight unseen. But this new place is more normal. It has a picket fence.
So do you still have the problem with rental cars in LA? “I’ve been banned from rental cars. They don’t like for me to drive them any more. I wrecked two of them so far. My business manager offers me car service. What’s funny is I wrecked them in the driveway. Now there’s a huge roiling gate, so you can’t wreck anything.
I thought you usually drive big trucks? “I do, but in Oklahoma, where there aren’t any walls to hit.”
Have you been able to spend more time with Blake now? I have. I feel like it was time to take off from the road. I ended the tour in October, and don’t start until July. So it’s been weird. I’ve not been off, I’ve done stuff, but not on the road. I don’t even have a tour bus now. Blake still has, so I’m like a bum, I ask, ‘Can I borrow your bus?’
