Lady A Breaks ACM News To Lon

Lady Antebellum’s Charles, Hillary, and Dave were in the middle of co-hosting the Countdown when their manager found out that CCUSA’s Lon Helton had won the ACM National Personality of the Year Award.  So in between songs, he texted the trio the news, and they broke it to Lon.  He hadn’t seen the release, so he was totally surprised.  Charles said, “Wow this is breaking news that Lon Helton has won an ACM Award for National Personality.  You couldn’t have done it without us.  That was fun to give you that news!  We’ve never been able to do that.” Lon will accept the award at a special ceremony on Saturday April 5th in Las Vegas.  The 49th annual ACM Awards take place Sunday April 6th on CBS-TV.

This marks Lon’s third ACM win, having previously won in 2009 and 2011.  Lon also has six CMA Awards for National Personality in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 20012.
