Baby Antebellum: No Cry Baby

| March 1, 2014

hillary_scott_babyLady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott became a mom last summer.  Now her baby girl Eisele travels on the road with the band.  Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton spoke with the trio about life with Baby Antebellum:

So how’s it been touring with a  baby?  (Hillary) I’ll let the boys answer that.  (Charles) She’s incredible.  I have a lot of nieces and nephews, and I’ve never seen a baby that’s so chill and blendable.  I’m used to squirmy babies that won’t sit and let you hold them.  She will sit beside you and won’t squirm.  She just observes. (Hillary) She comes to sound check every day, and I put the ear protection, that’s one of the things Kimberly from Little Big Town gave us, she sent a pair of hot pink ear protectors, and she loves it.  She sits on my hip, looks at the video screen behind us, and she’s honestly meant to be in our family, in our Lady A family, and Chris and my family.  She’s the coolest little girl I know. (Dave) She’s a no-cry baby. She doesn’t cry a lot.

Did you look into the affect being around music has on a baby?  (Hillary) Yes, I did, and up until the last month, we were playing shows, so she felt all of that.  Me walking around on stage, Dave’s voice, Charles’ voice.  She heard all that.  I think that’s one of the reasons why she’s so good.  She can fall asleep in a crowded room with people talking. She’s used to it, so it made her who she is for sure.

What other baby gifts did you get? (Hillary) Oh my gosh, I’ve never felt so loved than with what people gave.  Darius Rucker gave me a rockin’ chair with a pillow that says “Rock me momma like a wagon wheel.”  Then we did a Crossroads with Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, and she showered my daughter with outfits.  Then Miranda sent a beautiful gift as well.  My heart is exploding with the love people showed to my baby girl.”

So I imagine you’re now on two busses? (Dave) Yes, Hillary’s got her own bus, and Charles & I are on the old bus together.  We took the back lounge where her bedroom was and made it into a studio. (Hillary) I’ve said that’s a country song: ‘There’s a studio where my bedroom used to be.”  And a wine fridge.  (Dave) So we’ve been recording back there.  We write a lot and do a lot of demos.
