Thompson Square Goes Hatless!
Since hitting the country music scene a few years ago, Thompson Square’s Keifer Thompson has typically sported some form of hat. But when the duo accepted their second strait ACM Duo of the Year Award, Keifer was noticeably hatless! Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton asked them about it this weekend: “Everyone’s been like, ‘I think he’s bald, I don’t think he has any hair.’ And I wanted to do something different, and debunk the myth that I don’t have any hair. I had a lot of women in my corner with all this styling thing. Everyone was like, ‘Why are you wearing a hat? You got hair. I think the hat’s gonna detract from the suit.’ So I said, let’s just drop the hat this time and see what happens. (Shawna) I think you looked spectacular!”
Lon pointed out that Chris Young got a lot of attention when he stopped wearing his hat. Keifer said, “You know how bad that hat smells? It’s time to get a new hat.” Shawna added, “I had the same thing with my hair. When I colored it all black. They were like Oh my gosh! You changed your hair.” (Keifer) “Two tone, two tone Thompson, that’s where the T-2 came from. But I’m going to keep wearing a hat. I’m not dumping it. I’ve always worn hats. I’m just changing it up.”
Lon asked Keifer & Shawna where they keep their awards: “We have a little dedicated bookshelf in our office at home. It’s so weird walking by the door and seeing them there. (Keifer) It’s almost like I bought them at a pawnshop. (Shawna) It’s really hard figuring out where to place them, because you don’t want company to think you’re boasting. So we try to put them in a spot that was fitting. (Keifer) It’s nice to walk by the room, it’s cool to reflect every once in a while and think, man we really did that!”
