McGraw Surprises Taylor Swift

Tim McGraw’s new CD “Two Lanes Of Freedom” includes a song called “Highway Don’t Care” that features guest vocals from Taylor Swift.  The song is actually #13 on the album, a nod to Taylor’s lucky number.  But Tim didn’t tell Taylor that little detail, and she actually didn’t know until Lon Helton told her when she co-hosted Country Countdown USA.  Taylor’s reaction: “Oh that’s good!  That’s so cool, that’s unbelievable, of course he would do something like that!”  Lon asked, So you didn’t know?  “No not til right now!”

Taylor says she was thrilled to sing on Tim’s new album: “It’s wonderful to get to be featured on a song like that with Tim, because it’s a really special song, and the way he sings it, the way Tim McGraw tells a story is just on a different level than anybody else, he’s got that authenticity to the way he puts forth a song, no one else does it like him, so to be on that song is such an honor, and it’s something I’ve dreamed about my whole life, like what if you got to sing a song with your hero, and it just came out, and it’s shooting up the iTunes chart, it’s really exciting.”

Taylor’s relationship with Tim has really evolved in the 6 years since his name was the title of her debut song.  She described it this way: “It’s really interesting because I don’t think I ever could have anticipated how Tim & Faith would embrace me like I’m part of their family, inviting me over, sending me something on my birthday every year, Faith never forgets, and for Tim to perform with me at my Nashville concert, and Faith did it the year before, it seems like a natural progression to collaborate in the studio.”

“Highway Don’t Care” features Taylor Swift and guitar work from Keith Urban.  Tim will talk about that song next week when he co-hosts Country Countdown USA.
