Carrie Saves a Chipmunk
Carrie Underwood apologized for her late arrival to do the Countdown. Everyone knows that Carrie is a huge animal lover. She’s also a vegetarian. Turns out her dog Ace doesn’t share those two interests. Carrie told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “I had an interesting morning this morning. That’s why I probably look rough. I didn’t even have time to grab my ring. I had to take a chipmunk to the vet. My dog grabbed one. I was like, ‘No!’ Ace is not a vegetarian. He killed a bird. I told Mike, I called him, and he’s like, ‘Yes! Ace got one!’ I said, ‘No, I took it to the vet.’ He laughed at me, and said I was incredible. I walked into the vet;s office with it in a shoe box, and she said, ‘Is it a rabbit? Is it a turtle?’ No, it’s a chipmunk. She goes, ‘I don’t think we can do anything.’ I said, ‘You have to try! Please don’t turn me away! I don’t know what to do’ So they took it. One of the vets said she had a lot in her backyard, and she would try and see what she could do. So I gave her my number, and I was like, ‘Call me later when you know how it is.’ I was praying for that chipmunk too. I was like, ‘God you can do all things! Please save it!'”
As Carrie was leaving our studio, she received a text from the vet: “Update on the chipmunk: No punctures. He’ll survive.” Later that day, Carrie tweeted a photo of the rescued chipmunk. She said, “Meet Dale. My dog, Ace, tried to eat him today. Good news: the vet does take care of chipmunks and Dale is doing fine. And no, I’m not keeping him. He will be released into a different yard with no Ace to chase him.”
