Chesney Hangs With Ashton

| June 16, 2012

There’s one of those group shots from back stage at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas.  You can see Kenny Chesney with Jason Aldean, Jake Owen, Jay DeMarcus, and Ashton Kutcher.  Of course Ashton presented the Female Vocalist trophy to Miranda Lambert.  He also sang a little bit of George Strait’s “I Cross My Heart.”  Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton asked Kenny about his memory of that photo: “Ashton was dressed more country than any of us!  Speaking of Ashton, I played Bill Clinton’s 65th birthday party, me, Bono, Lady Gaga, and Usher.  That’s who he wanted to play his 65th birthday at the Hollywood Bowl last fall.  Ashton was there hanging out, and he came up to me backstage, and said ‘I want you to know how much of a fan I am.’  He grew up in a state where country music is popular.  He says, ‘Back Where I Come From is my favorite song.  Every time I go to a movie premiere, I play that song to remind myself of where I grew up.’  That’s where I first met Ashton, then saw him again at the ACM Awards.  But we had fun.”

What about Bill Cliton’s birthday party?  “That’s a whole ‘nother show.  He was the most charasmatic guy I’ve ever met.  It was a lot of fun.  He was a blast to be around.”
