Carrie’s Duet: Live or Hologram?
Last year, Brad Paisley & Carrie Underwood had a #1 duet with “Remind Me.” When Brad took that song on the road, he used a “hologram” of Carrie to simulate the duet. But at the end of Brad’s winter tour, Carrie actually surprised Brad on stage. She spoke about that night with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “It’s so funny because people were believing I was there with him every night to sing that one song! So I decided to show up and everybody knew but Brad. We drove to Knoxville, and where I was supposed to be on the screen is where they placed me on the stage. And Brad turned around and did a double take. Afterwards he told me he thought somebody dressed up as me, and he though, ‘Not this song,” then he thought, ‘Man they did a good job! That looks like her!’ And the audience thought I was the hologram, until I stepped off the platform. Then they went nuts. It was good. It’s one I’ll never forget. But I told my guys, ‘You realize I feel like we’re opening Pandora’s Box, because Brad & I have never pranked each other. We could be opening a horrible door we can’t shut. But it made it better. It wasn’t like I was doing something to be goofy or embarrass him. It was a cool moment.”

So when your tour begins next fall, are you going to do Remind Me? “I would love to. We haven’t discussed all of the details of the tour yet, but one way or another, I’d love for him to have a moment in my show. It’s no secret our friendship and how much we respect each other, I’d love to bring him along with me in some small way.” By the way, Brad makes an appearance in Carrie’s new CD on a song called “Cupid’s Got a Shotgun.” We may get a chance to see them together this week during CMA Fest.
