Blake & Strait: Whoops!

Blake Shelton toured with George Strait in 2009.  But it’s rare that Blake gets to spend some personal time with The King.  He told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton the two got together last December.  Blake was in Las Vegas for the American Country Awards, and George was there for the National Finals Rodeo.  Blake recalled, “I was in my hotel room, and I get a text from my tour manager, who says, ‘I’m watching the football game, if you want to come down and watch the end of it,’ and I didn’t realize he was in a suite with George Strait, his wife, and his son Bubba.  Wow, I didn’t want to interupt whatever they’re doing.  So I came in, and I sit in the corner.  The game was Arizona against Dallas, and I’m a huge Cardinals fan, and it was the game that went into overtime.  And when Arizona won the game, I just erupt, I go ‘Yes, yes!”  And I look over, and I see George is in a baseball cap, he’s glaring at me, and I go, ‘Oh yeah that’s right, you’re from Texas.’ And he ended up laughing and came over and we visited for a while.  But I remember thinking I would have kicked me out of the house if I’d have done something like that.”
