Christmas With the Bryans

| January 22, 2012

Christmas is always a time for families to get together.  For Luke Bryan, that involves taking his wife and two young boys to his hometown of Leesburg in South Georgia.  Luke told Lon Helton of Country Countdown USA: “I did the hometown Christmas parade in Leesburg, I was the Grand Marshall, and I got to see everybody that way.  There was probably 5,000 people there, it was a big turnout for Leesburg.  We had a great time, so we spent the first part of December down there.  Then we came back to Nashville.  And then we loaded up my tour bus, drove back down to Georgia, and spent the few days before Christmas in Leesburg.

We learned with a 3 year old and 1 year old, that our traveling days are over.  We’ll probably stay in Nashville next year and the grandparents will come up for Christmas.  But we did our standard Christmas eve traditions of chili dogs and new pajamas.  We were staying in my brother-in-law’s house, we’re all in one room.  Tate’s in the pack’n’play.  He wakes up and starts screaming.  He wakes up Bo, who also starts screaming.  So finally I got Tate and spent Christmas Eve sleeping in a recliner, watched Santa come down the chimney, and those chili dogs stayed with me all night.  That’s parenthood in a nutshell.  I spelt about an hour, opened presents, then loaded up the presents on my tour bus for the ride back to Nashville.  One of the boy’s presents was a indoor trampoline.  You can  imagine the size of that.  All Bo wanted was a pair of boxing gloves.  Santa asked him why, and he says, ‘So I can punch daddy in the butt.  So there’s quite a bit of video of Bo punching daddy in the butt.   So we probably won’t have those Christmas weeks any more.”

“My wife and I didn’t get each other anything for Christmas.  So right after Christmas, we took a trip to Turks & Caicos, where we got married.  We didn’t take the kids for the first time, and so we just sat on the beach and didn’t do anything for a week.”
