Chris Young Christmas Surprise

Chris Young had an amazing year in 2011.  It began with his first Grammy nomination.  Then he spent the summer on the road with Jason Aldean.  In September, he celebrated his 4th straight #1 hit, plus his second album went Gold. As the year ended, Chris picked up a pair of American Country Awards in Las Vegas.  So when Christmas came around at the end of the year, it was time to splurge. “I found out that people can judge if I’ve had a good year by two days: Christmas and 4th of July.  I love buying fireworks, and I love buying gifts for other people.  My parents are getting more ticked off at me every year.  They’re like, ‘Don’t buy us anything anything big,’ and then I do, and they get mad but they’re OK with it.  Like this year I got my dad a 2 by 4, because I actually got them a fence for their new house.  I got my mom a new hot tub.  She saw it and said, ‘You spent too much, I’m so mad, I love it.’ I figured I was off the hook.  It’s what it’s all it’s about.  It’s fun.

But the Christmas gifts weren’t restricted to his friends and family.  Chris revealed to Lon that he actually bought something for himself.  “I actually haven’t told anyone what I bought yet, but I got a Dodge Challenger.  One of the new ones.  I’m a big fan.  I don’t drive it really crazy, but just knowing that I can.  My uncle is a big car guy, so the first thing I did was bring it over to my uncle when I bought it, and we burned rubber.  I haven’t bought anything in 6 years, but when your accountants tell you ‘You can buy something for you if you want,’ you might as well go buy something.  And I didn’t go crazy, I just bought me a little car to drive around the neighborhood.”
