Jake Owen Celebrates 1st #1
There was a party in Nashville this week to celebrate Jake Owen’s first #1 with “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.” Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton was on hand to present Jake with a plaque to commemorate the event. Speaking before the party, Jake Owen told the Nashville media said: “It’s amazing, after years of working at it, six years of putting out songs, it’s a good feeling, especially to celebrate with all the people who helped me get here.” Jake explained the appeal of the song this way: “The melody itself was addicting, as well as the lyrical content. I had the ability this summer on tour with Keith Urban to watch songs grow. To spend the entire summer watching people stand up at just the intro, you can’t go wrong when you see it happening in front of you.”
Jake also gave a lot of credit to his fans: “I’ve always been pretty personable with the fans, buit with the recent ability to use platforms like Twitter, it allows my fans to see me on a real level. I’ve worked hard this year to relate to everyone. I think the ability to connect with people first hand right now has really helped me a lot.”
Next week, Jake will co-host his annual charity concert with tennis pro Mardy Fish in his hometown of Vero Beach, FL. Then he’ll spend the rest of the month with his family.
