Will Blake & Miranda Two-Peat?
When Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert won the CMA Male & Female Vocalist awards last year, it was the first time a couple had done that since Tim McGraw & Faith Hill won those awards in 2000. It was the first time either Blake or Miranda had picked up that honor. This year, they’re nominated in those categories once again, so will they two-peat?
We asked Miranda about it, and she seemed more focused on the fact that Blake has five nominations, including Entertainer of the Year: “I kind of feel like last year was my year. I won my first CMA Award. I kind of feel like I wanna sit back and watch Blake take in the glory he’s been so overdue, he’s one of the most nominated artists, and he deserves it. I think people have been saying that for so long that they put his name on these ballots because it’s time. I’m excited to just be his wife and be supportive and hear his name go by for seven different categories.”
Blake is nominated for Single, Album, Video, Male Vocalist, and Entertainer. Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton asked Blake how he feels about the nomination for Entertainer: “To say the least I was shocked about it, but after I thought about it, I decided it was probably too early for me to compete in that category, but it doesn’t mean I’m not proud to be in that category and excited about it and hope that being nominated this year leads to the opportunities to win it at some point. But you gotta get in there at some point, and it thrills me at this point in my career. If you’d asked me a few years ago, I would have laughed. I thought those days had passed. I’ve been doing this long enough to really appreciate something like this.”
