Carrie Brings The “Hot Guy”
One of the highlights of the 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards was Carrie Underwood’s performance with rocker (and American Idol judge) Steven Tyler. It definitely caught everyone by surprise, and it was also an incredible moment. Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton asked Carrie about that performance: “We kind of have the same connections between myself and Steven Tyler, so we asked if he wanted to come to Vegas, and fortunately, he said yes. I felt like brought the really hot guy that everybody wanted to bring to prom, and I brought him to prom. I walked in next to him, and to watch people’s faces turn. So much stinkin’ fun! He’s so awesome, so nice to me. He loves music and people. He’s just a happy awesome rock god. I never do this, because we get plaques all the time, but I had one made myself of pictures of his, he sent me this giant thing of flowers, and he wrote me a poem, I had it all framed. I can’t repeat it because there were some explicite words in it.”
So what about the kiss? “When you’re doing something like that, you act in the moment, we knew we were going to be really in the moment. There was little contact, like brushing, the closest two people can get to kissing without actually kissing, there was not a millimeter between us.”
