Luke Bryan Impresses Shania

The lady who sang “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” and did a lot to popularize the bare midriff in the 90s says she was impressed with Luke Bryan’s CMT Music Awards performance.  Shania Twain told Lon Helton of Country Countdown USA, “The girls were on stage in these hot outfits, tight pants and open midriff, and they were really shakin’ it up.  I told my husband, ‘I used to dress like that when I was really fit, but I could never dance like that.’  I thought to myself it’s swung back around to today’s version of sexiness in music.” 

We played that quote for Luke, and he responded: “That is one of the most surreal moments I’ve ever had.  I was litereally on stage watching Shania watch the performance.  I remember seeing her smiling and thinking, ‘Oh my God Shania Twain is totally diggin’ this.’  And as she said the midriff, well she started all that!  So that’s really cool, I remember hearing her records, and she was the queen of having fun with her music, so it’s real cool hearing her say that.”
