Dierks Says ‘No’ To Trump
Back in May, John Rich was named Celebrity Apprentice by Donald Trump. John is good friends with this week’s co-host Dierks Bentley. So Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton spoke with Dierks about John and Celebrity Apprentice.
“I’ve known John Rich since 1998, and he puts 100% into everything he does, and I was excited for people to see him on that show, I know he made a lot of new fans, and no one was pulling for him more than I was.
Has he talked to you about doing the show? He did, and I got an official offer to be on the show and I turned it down because I love playing music, and more than anything else, I love being on a tour bus and hitting that stage. You gotta know what makes you happy, what’s right for your family, and it’s flattering to be offered to do it, but you got to know what makes you happy, and live shows is what does it for me, and I’m happy with that.

WEB EXCLUSIVE: Dierks talked about both John Rich and previous Apprentice contestant Trace Adkins: “One of the coolest moments in the show was when Donald Trump said he had made Trace Adkins, and John Rich interrupted him to say, ‘Excuse me Mr. Trump, but Trace Adkins sold millions of records before he came on Celebrity Apprentice. He’s a big deal in our world.’ Our world is different, and either you get it or you don’t. But there’s John Rich wearing a cowboy hat, and a lot of people would make assumptions because of that, but he was one of the smartest guys on that show. So he did a lot of good. What was cool was he used all his resources to raise money for a great cause. But we were just texting last night, he texted me to ask if I was around so we could hit some clubs on lower Broadway, but what a surprise: I was on the road!”
