Chris Young: Wedding Guest

When Blake Shelton married Miranda Lambert in May, they invited a lot of their Nashville friends to the ceremony in Texas.  Among the guests was Chris Young, who shared his experiences with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “Amazing, first of all.  It was just gorgeous.  I wish I had a girl here to describe it.  Girls are better at describing weddings that guys.  Guys are like, ‘Yeah it was good.’  They’re like, ‘What color did the bridesmaids wear?’ ‘I Don’t know, I just know it was good!’  But it was a beautiful wedding, Blake sang a song to Miranda, Neal McCoy was the reception band, which is awesome because Neal is so cool.  But it was the wedding of the year!  Most memorable moment for me was they were keeping it private.  Their were buses taking us everywhere.  So we were on the bus and it was like all of country music was on this bus.  Charles of Lady A, Dierks, everybody from Sony, it was really all of Nashville on these buses.”

 There is an amazing connection between Chris Young and Blake Shelton.  It’s a connection that goes back to when Chris was just a teenager.  He told CCUSA’s Lon Helton: “I used to go watch Blake with my parents when I wa sa kid, before he broke out and had his first hits.  Like when he was playing the Gibson Bluegrass Showcase at Opry Mills, just him and a guitar.  We saw four or five of his shows.  I thought he was such a great singer.  So when he won the CMA Male Vocalist award was so cool.  He’s just an amazing vocalist.”  Lon asked what was the reason Chris & his family went to see Blake before he had hits? “We just liked Blake and my sister had a crush on him.”
