Ronnie: Daddy Was a Cowboy
As you can see in the picture, Ronnie Dunn now has a large tattoo on his right forearm that says, in large block letters, “Cowboy.” But what’s the story behind that eye-catching piece of ink? Lon Helton asked Ronnie this week on Country Countdown USA, and was amazed at the answer: “Last summer, I was thinking about change, and I was a step from checking into the looney bin. I remember looking at these hats, and these guys, and thought I should get “cowboy” written on my arm. My dad was a cowboy. We buried him in a cowboy hat and boots. It was probably some subconscious thing, me always trying to be a cowboy. He wanted to be a country singer, and all he ever wanted to be. Just one of those guys who dreamed the dream, and it never came true.” Sadly, Ronnie Dunn’s father passed away in 1987, several years before Brooks & Dunn’s success.
