Eric Church: No To Stadiums

| January 26, 2015

Eric 1-10-15 3It was just announced that Eric Church will join Kenny Chesney for five stadium shows this summer.  It will make a return for Church to stadiums, which he did in 2013. Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton asked Eric if he’d like to headline stadiums himself:  “No.  For the type show we do, we are trying to get back to what the small bars and clubs felt like, and I don’t think I can do that in a stadium.  They’re fun to do, they’re fun to be on, for me personally, I’d love to play every song we’ve got, play three hours a night, in a place that feels like a bar or club.”

Then why did you choose to join Kenny this summer?   “It really came down for me that any time you can enjoy it, we got along great, his shows are a great atmosphere, it’s almost like a vacation.  My wife even said it was the most fun she’d seen me have touring.  It’s very rare.  I wish it was more common, and the crowds benefit from that”

It was also just announced that you’ll continue The Outsiders World Tour through June: “I’m having more fun on this tour than I have since the clubs.  The reason is because of the environment, we’re playing over 2 hours, sometimes closer to 3, and the people are still there.  We’ll play album cuts, not just the songs people have heard, so I’m having a blast with that.  I’m enjoying playing, we’ve kind of hit our groove here, so let’s go do this thing!”
