FGL Previews “Anything Goes”

| October 12, 2014

FGL AnythingThis week, Florida Georgia Line will release their second album, “Anything Goes.”  Their debut went Platinum, thanks to the success of the hit :Cruise.”  The duo hopes lightning strikes twice.  FGL’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard co-hosted Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton.

What’s the transition like from the first album to this one? (Tyler) I think it’s a natural evolution, where we’re at as people, songwriters, and artists.  The first album was 110% all we had to give, and so is this album.  We poured our heart & soul into every song, and we’ve been excited to get this album out, and we hope it’ll change the game.

Since the first album was released, you’ve been on the road almost non-stop, and met a lot of your fans.  So how did that shape this album?  *Brian) When you’re on stage, you see how they react.  If we’re going to do a ballad, you’ll feel strong emotions.

You wrote 5 of the 12 songs, is the album like Dirt or your previous stuff?  (Tyler) It’s a little of both, but there’s also stuff people have never heard from us before. Kind of like our second single, ‘Sundaze.’  It’s more of a beachy party.  It’s a feel-good make you wanna dance song.  I think there’s a song on here for every person in every walk of life.  That was our goal in making this album.

How has your writing changed? (Brian) We try and stay in the creative zone, from the first one to this one.  We stayed working and writing non-stop, stay focused on creative things.  If you lose creativity, you lose relevance, we wanted to hit while it was hot, and approach this record like we did the last one, that’s put as many strong songs that we felt could be singles on the album.

Talk about some of your favorites on the album: (Tyler) We have a song called ‘Confessions’ that’s similar to Dirt, a life song that makes you think and takes you to a special place.  There’s a song called Bump’n’ the Night that’s kind of different, it makes you wanna party but also kinda chill.  We got a pretty sexy song called ‘Good, Good’ that you girl will want to hear.  We always say things different, like ‘Baby get your shine on.’  The hook is ‘You got the fire right, you’re my good-good.’  We kind of did a play on that, trying to keep it fresh.  We’ve been playing ‘Anything Goes’ in the show every night.  It’s electric every night.  Their reaction says it all, and the crowd loves it every night, you’d think they’ve heard it ten times already.”
