Hunter Hayes Meets Rock Royalty

| May 4, 2014

HunterPaul 2014The year had barely begun, and Hunter Hayes met two of rock’s greatest legends.  In January, at the Grammy Awards, Hunter debuted his current hit “Invisible.”  That same day, he met Sir Paul McCartney.  He tells Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “I was following around Lindsey Buckingham, because I wanted to meet him, so I was standing outside his dressing room, and Sir Paul walked by, and I really wanted to say hello, but I didn’t have the guts.  As he was walking, he’s the coolest guy in the world, and he makes eye contact with me, and at that point, I nodded at him, and he looks again at me, and walks straight up to me, and shakes my hand, compliments my performance, compliments the song, and says all these cool things,  just completely caught me off guard.  You can see in the pictures, you can see I have the cheesiest grin in the world, cause I’m the happiest dude in the world.  It was pretty amazing.”

So how about Elton John?  You appear on the 40th anniversary boxed set of his classic album “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” Have you met Elton John?  “I have now.  I got to see one of his shows in Vegas the Saturday before the ACMs.  He know I was there, he dedicated Yellow Brick Road to me, said some cool things to me, I wish I had it on video, cause I cried.  Then we got to hang out together, talk about music, and he called me one day out of the blue.  When Storyline went up for pre-sale, I got a call from Sir Elton, who said, ‘Hey I just pre-ordered your record, so I just wanted to call you and tell you about it and see how everything’s going.’  It’s absolutely crazy.  It’s amazing.”
