Blake: The Voice More Competitive

| March 23, 2014

blake-shelton VoiceBlake Shelton is spending his 6th season as a coach on NBC’s The Voice.  He’s won the competition three times.  This season’s coaches are Adam Levine, Shakira, and Usher.  He told Country Countdown USA that the coaches are even more competitive this year: “I think Usher & Shakira combination makes for a more competitive situation.  When Ceelo is in the mix, he’ll tell you he’s not that competitive.  But Usher & Shakira makes for a more competitive group of people for sure.”

What should we look for in the battle rounds? “I’m sure I’m going to disappoint some people out there like I’ve gotten good at.  It’s a tough decision.  You beg them to be on your team, and the first thing you do is kick half of them off.  It’s the one part of the show I don’t like.  It’s probably a lot of fun to watch, but if you’re the one making the decisions, it’s tough.”

So this season, your wife is mentoring on The Voice, except she’s working for the enemy: Shakira.  Are you OK with that? “I am, what guy wouldn’t want their wife hanging out with Shakira.  It’s a fun combination because Shakira is from Columbia, and Miranda is from East Texas, and the combination is fun.  I hope they figure out ways to keep intermingling those two together because it’s a lot of fun together.  They’re actually giddy around each other, they look up to each other.”
