Scotty’s Duck Dynasty Dinner

| March 9, 2014

Scotty RobertsonsThis summer, Scotty McCreery will be part of the Duck Dynasty Cruise, joining the entire Robertson family for a wild vacation in the Caribbean.  Scotty talked about how the friendship began with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton: “It all started with Twitter.  I saw one of them tweet that they were in Nashville, and I was playing the Opry that night, and I said ‘Hey, I don’t know what your schedule is like, but if you got free time, come on by the Opry and say hello, I’d love to meet you.’  So a friendship was struck there, and they invited me to sing at Sadie’s Sweet 16. (Sadie is Willie’s daughter)  We got down there a day early to hang out, and we went muddin’ with John Luke, they showed on the show his jeep gettin’ stuck, and that was us!  We were in  there, hit a rut, and we couldn’t get out for the life of us.  He pulled his front bumper off with a wench tryin’ to get us out, so we made some memories down in Louisiana.”

Talking about the Duck Dynasty Cruise, is everyone going? “I think they had to come down on Si and Uncle Phil to get them to come, but I think they’re going as well.”

Have you met those two guys? “I have, they say Si once you get him going, he won’t stop, but you gotta get him going.  So I went by, and I think I spooked him, cause I knew who he was, and he didn’t know who I was.  But he had his cup of tea.  But Phil was awesome.  We talked to him for hours.  We were watching the College World Series, and LSU was playing, so they’re big into that. He was giving us his thoughts on baseball.  It was just like watching their TV show.  I was with a bunch of friends, and we kept looking at each other and laughing, because we were right in the middle of it.”

Did you have dinner with them? “I did, and Miss Kay did some cooking.  I think I went back for thirds and fourths.  It was good eatin.’

What was the most exotic thing?  Was there alligator?  “There probably was.  Whatever’s in the yard, or whatever they get is for dinner.”
