David Nail’s World Series Conflict

| February 2, 2014

David-Nail CardsDavid Nail loves baseball.  And he REALLY loves his hometown St. Louis Cardinals.  He even did spring training with the red birds a few years ago.  So when they played the Boston Red Sox in the World Series, you might think David was sad when his team lost.  Not so.  He told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that he has a lot of friends in Boston: “So many people told me ‘Sorry about your Cardinals.’  But given what Boston had been through, who could be mad at Boston?  When they won in Game 6, I couldn’t even get upset.  I’ve been to Boston, I love the city, I know cops there who responded to that horrible thing during the Marathon, so I couldn’t be mad.  I was actually happy for them a little bit.”

In fact, David had an experience at Boston’s Fenway Park that he’ll never forget that also involved Justin Moore.  He told Lon, “I was in Boston, I went up for a random trip, a friend of mine Jake Peavy was traded to the Boston Red Sox.  I was having dinner after the game, and got a text from Jake saying, ‘You have to come back here, because Justin Moore is in the clubhouse.’  So we left the restaurant, and went to the Red Sox club house, and sure enough, Justin was there, Rick Sutcliffe, a former Cubs pitcher, and we sat up til 3 in the morning singing songs and telling stories.  I remember I looked at Justin every 15 minutes, sayin’ ‘What in the world are we doing here?’  At one point, Jake said ‘I’m gonna get a guitar,’ and I thought  there’s no way there’s a guitar in a major league clubhouse, and he went to a closet and there were six guitars!   So we ended up sang old Hank Jr. songs and listened to baseball stories.  I can remember Jake talking about the team, saying it was a special bunch of guys, and they could go to the World Series and win it, and sure enough they did it.  I love that place, I love that city, and it was fun running into Justin there that day.”
