Kimberly Perry Picked Her Ring

| January 11, 2014

KimberlyJPThe Band Perry’s Kimberly Perry announced her engagement to baseball player J.P. Arencibia back on October 1st.  The proposal was a surprise.  But apparently the engagement ring was not.  Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton asked if she had input in the choice: “Yeah Lon, I did, I had a lot of input.” Brother Neal added, “She picked it!” “I did.  He was so busy.  I just figured I’d take the reins on this one.” Lon said, “At least we know he’s smart.” “Yes, we do.”

So have you set a date? “We’ve talked about the summer, summer 2014, but as far as a date, we’re going to have to negotiate schedules.  We’re going to have to find some 24 hour period to let these nuptials happen.”

One change for the couple since the engagement: J.P. was traded from Toronto to Dallas, where he now plays for the Texas Rangers.  Arencibia is a native of Miami, but went to school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  The two met in Florida two years ago.

Lon asked if the nature or tone of Kimberly’s songwriting changed now that she’s in love? “You know, yes and no at the same time.  We get most inspired when we feel like the underdog.  But yes, I have started a couple songs, just having that perspective, and it is a different horizon, for me and really for all three of us, and I’m sure we’ll respond to that in our music. Is your fiancé a songwriter? “He is not.  He tries to sing sometimes though.  And then it’s like, ‘Hey, leave the singing to US! We’ll take that, but he’s a sweet spirit.”

Kimberly adds that she and her brothers still share one tour bus.  No word on how that will change after the wedding.
