Jason Aldean’s Concert DVD

| September 28, 2013

Jason DVDLast spring, Jason Aldean made history when he became the first artist in any genre of music to perform at Sanford Stadium on the campus of the University of Georgia.  Now that history-making concert has been turned into a DVD.  He spoke with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton about the emotional reason behind the DVD: “I lived with my mom, who was a single parent, and she could never afford to take me to games in the stadium, as big of a fan as I was of the team.  The first time my mom stepped in that stadium was that day, the day I played it.  She came in early, I took her and we walked around and she checked it out.  It was pretty cool moment, she teared up a couple times.  The first time she stepped in, all she saw was my stage set up in the end zone.  So it was a pretty cool night all the way around.”  The cameras followed Jason and his mom, and fans will experience that moment with them. “We kind of did some documentary style stuff, and it’s mixed in with the live performance.  Lot of behind-the-scenes stuff.”

In addition to the personal history, there’s the thought of being the first to perform in that stadium.  Jason said that too was a bit surprising. “It was like how did I become the guy, out of all the people from Georgia, and all the people who wanted to play there, to be the one they let come in there.  It’s crazy.  But I have those moments a lot, and it’s something I still get excited about.”

There are several special guests on the DVD.  Jason’s Georgia buddy Luke Bryan was there.  So was Ludicris, who joined Jason for Dirt Road Diary.  The third guest on the DVD is Kelly Clarkson, who does their award-winning duet “Don’t You Want To Stay.”  But there’s a little video trickery in Kelly’s appearance. “Kelly was not on the Sanford show, but she did the Wrigley Field show in Chicago, so what we did was take the video from there and cutting it into the DVD.  So there’s the one performance from Wrigley, and the rest is from Sanford.”

The Night Train To Georgia DVD includes 18 live songs, and will be available on October 15.
