How Lee Brice Proposed

| April 21, 2012

Lee Brice currently has the wedding song of the year with “A Woman Like You.”  And he’ll soon have a chance to sing it at his own ceremony.  That’s because Lee recently proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Sara.  It happened back in January while the two were vacationing in Key West.  Lee told Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton the proposal didn’t go completely as planned: “I had this whole thing planned out.  I had this spot on this island, there’s a lagoon with a swing hanging from a tree in the middle of the ocean.  What a perfect place.  So we went there, and it was freezing, and there was sea weed all over the beach.  And then some guy shows up in a boat holding a bottle of champaign, shouting ‘Hey did she say yes?’  It was terrible.  So we went back to our hotel, and later that evening, I got on a knee in our room.  And truthfully, she’s the kind of girl who’d rather it just be her and I.  She’s a very private person.   I think it worked out perfect.  It was the thought that counted, she knew what I had planned, and then truthfully, she probably got what she wanted.  Just her & I in the little room we had, so I think it ended up being perfect.”

Lee has known his fiance for 13 years.  They met long before he moved to Nashville, when he was still living in his home state of South Carolina.  “I went through my time when I wanted to be a single man, and this lady came along, and she’s the most amazing woman I’ve ever met, so I couldn’t wait another second without making sure she wasn’t going anywhere else!”

Lee took 13 years to get engaged, so he’s also not rushing to get married: “We’re talking about next April.  I’m on the road a lot.  I’m on the road a lot, and I want to be a part of it as much as I can.  So I don’t wanna rush and stress out.  I want to keep it relaxed and enjoyable as possible so we’re just gonna chill out and wait til next spring to get hitched.”
